Karjeros galimybės

The boundaries between health and social care have become blurred in recent years, as vulnerable people are increasingly supported within their own homes and communities by a range of agencies and practitioners working in partnership.

This course is designed to prepare you to meet the challenges raised by such changes, providing a sound knowledge base in the social, organisational, legal and policy contexts of health and social care. It also offers specialist study in particular service or client areas, such as health education, mental health, children and families, and older and disabled people.

You'll have the opportunity to develop practice-related skills in areas such as multi-agency working, equal opportunities, and working with diversity and difference. It also introduces key concepts and issues in human services practice, such as evidence-based practice, inter-disciplinary working, anti-discriminatory practice and user involvement.

Why choose this course?

By the end of this degree, with some additional work experience, you'll be equipped for a range of careers in the expanding field of health and social care, notably direct work with users of health and social care services - children and families, young people, drug and alcohol abusers, people with mental health problems, older and disabled people.

Career openings also exist in health promotion, welfare, community development and liaison roles and the voluntary sector. Successful graduates will also be eligible to apply for entry to the MSc in Social Work, in order to qualify as a social worker.

The course attracts students from traditional and non-traditional backgrounds, and members of staff have an enviable track record of delivering friendly, accessible and effective teaching and study support. There is also research methodology training at each level to prepare you for undertaking an independent research project at stage three. Alongside your academic studies, you will be supported to develop key study, personal and professional skills.

During this course you will:
  • Learn from friendly, approachable and supportive teaching staff with a real interest in students' welfare
  • Discover an exciting course suitable for anyone interested in health-related and social care issues
  • Be taught by world-leading researchers and experts in their field
  • Gain specialist knowledge, skills and experience that provide excellent preparation for your career in the field
