For as long as I can remember, I had wanted to move abroad, gain new life experience, and receive an education that would help me pursue my ambitions internationally.

Studying law in the Netherlands, entirely in English, was a major challenge.
During the first months, I had to work consistently to understand legal terminology, keep up with the material, and achieve results I could be proud of. It required discipline, patience, and much more preparation than I had initially expected.
However, the challenge quickly became one of the most valuable parts of the experience.
My English improved at a surprising speed. Studying complex subjects in another language forces you to think differently, communicate more precisely, and become much more confident when expressing your ideas.
The academic year is divided into four study periods, each lasting less than two months. Because the subjects are assessed more frequently, the amount of material for each examination feels more manageable than preparing everything from an entire semester at once.
This structure helped me remain focused and organise my studies more effectively.
The Netherlands is an extremely international country, and English is widely spoken. This makes everyday life much easier for students arriving from abroad because you can communicate in shops, public institutions, at university, and in most social situations without major difficulties.
The people I met were open, welcoming, and willing to help. Living in such an international environment makes you feel that the world is much more accessible than it once seemed.
The Hague is also an exceptional city for anyone interested in International or European Law. It is home to major courts, international institutions, and organisations connected to global justice and cooperation.
Studying in this environment makes the subject feel real. International law is not only something discussed in textbooks. You are surrounded by institutions and professionals involved in the field you hope to enter.
The city itself becomes part of your education and a daily reminder of what your future career could look like.
Of course, studying abroad is not always comfortable. You need to adapt to a different academic system, communicate in another language, organise your own life, and continue working even when you feel uncertain.
But this is exactly what prepares you for adulthood.
You become more independent, responsible, and confident because you are constantly required to solve problems and make decisions for yourself.
If someone asked me whether studying abroad was worth it, my answer would definitely be yes.
Few experiences prepare a young person for adult life as powerfully as moving to another country and learning to succeed there.
Studying International & European Law in The Hague gave me not only academic knowledge, but also stronger English, international experience, independence, and the confidence to pursue a future beyond national borders.
