Biorefineries
Production has until now been largely based on fossil raw materials, which has, in turn, caused serious environmental challenges. The use of renewable raw materials where it is technically possible and economically feasible is one of the corner technologies for mitigating climate change and saving scarce natural resources.
Biorefineries implement a wide range of technologies and materials, and this programme examines them with an open mind and a wide scope, including the opportunities they offer in terms of new competences, solutions and critical assessments. In this Master's programme, you will specialise in biorefining and related industries in the circular economy.
The Master's Programme in Biorefineries is delivered in blended mode, which means that the programme combines on-campus and independent online studies. Most of the obligatory specialisation studies require participation in contact teaching in Lahti in the form of lectures, exercises, or laboratory assignments. The programme is well suited for people already in the working world, aiming for professional development and the upgrading of qualifications. Some of the courses can be completed as distance learning. Students admitted to the programme should prepare to attend classes on campus when needed.
Į magistro studijų programas gali stoti visi, baigę universitetą arba besimokantys paskutiniame kurse. Studijos kurias baigei ar tebesimokai turi būti panašios krypties kaip ir tos, į kurias nori stoti, kadangi priėmimas yra paremtas ECTS kreditų suderinamumu.
ECTS kreditų išrašas - jei dar nesi baigęs aukštosios mokyklos, būtina prisegti ECTS kreditų išrašą, kuriame būtų matyti, kokius dalykus Tu mokeisi bei kokius pažymius ir kiek kreditų už juos gavai. Kai siunti anketą paskutiniame kurse, diplomą reikia prisegti vėliau, kai tik jį gausi. ĮSIDĖMĖK, Prie anketos būtinai turi prisegti dokumentą (anglų kalba), patvirtinantį, kad studijuoji ir šiais metais baigsi savo studijas. Dokumentas turi būti patvirtinas universiteto administracijos.
Bakalauro diplomas – jei jau esi baigęs aukštąją mokyklą, išrašo nereikia, užtenka prie anketos prisegti savo Bakalauro diplomą.
Pastaba! Stojant į šio universiteto programas yra reikalingas geras bakalauro studijų įvertinimas, vidurkis turėtų būti 7 ir daugiau. Šie reikalavimai yra orientaciniai ir galutinį vertinimą ar turimų pažymių pakanka atliks LUT universiteto priėmimo komisija.

You must complete one of the following degrees:
- Bachelor of Science in Technology OR closely related to Technology
Completed in a University - Bachelor of Engineering
Completed in a University of Applied Sciences
AND you must have completed
- a minimum of 24 ECTS credits of previous studies supportive to Biorefineries; Chemistry, Development of Chemical Processes or Processing of Biomass
Work experience relevant to the programme and the field will be considered in the selection process. Applicants must include their certificates of employment to the work experience they have listed. The certificates must indicate whether the job was full-time or part-time and the percentage of part-time compared to full-time (100%). It must also include the name and contact details of the employer and be signed or electronically authenticated by the employer. Certificate should specify:
- the starting date of your employment,
- the date of termination of your employment, or an indication if employment is continuing,
- the nature of your work, e.g. job description, duties, and responsibilities.
This Master's programme is not restricted to the forest industry but applies more generally to industry related to the use of biobased renewable resources.
You will acquire the knowledge and skills to work in different fields of the biobased raw materials and products industries globally, most typically in research, development, or various operations of sites.
Interesting career prospects are found also with process equipment manufacturers.
In addition, you will obtain a firm basis for continuing your studies in doctoral programmes.
