MBA Responsible Management

Modern society faces the growing challenge of climate change, sustainability, food crises and much more. Companies and organisations understand the vital role they will need to play, which is taking corporate and social responsibility.

The MBA in Responsible Management will enhance your business knowledge and skills to address complexity and uncertainty in various business environments.  You will learn to understand and critically analyse the impact of business on society, the environment and the economy.

You will study at The Hague University of Applied Sciences, which is situated in the international city of Peace, Justice and Security, and will spend two months in Costa Rica at the University for Peace (UPEACE).

As you are a full-time student, we expect you to be available 40 hours a week. Each week, you will have about 24 hours classroom sessions, some hours team work and private study. During school holidays you will have time off. Please realise that you might have some additional study load in exam periods.

The MBA programme is a mix of classroom sessions and private study. You will study for six months in the Netherlands, followed by two months in Costa Rica. Your final thesis project will be completed in the Netherlands.

We start the programme with an introduction week during which you will learn about the programme, the university, your role as student and the tools we are using. Getting introduced to The Hague city and getting to know your fellow students are essential parts of the first weeks. In September you will have a residential two-day workshop on the Intercultural Teambuilding Weekend. During this workshop you will learn to work together with people from different backgrounds and other cultures. As your class consists of students from all over the world (last year 14 nationalities), this is going to be a very important skill.

You are going to be a full-time student with about 24 hours of contact during weekdays. Occasionally, you will also have classes in the evening. The rest of the week you will work on projects individually or in small teams. During classroom sessions theory and practice will be blended in a balanced way. You will work in an international group, with intercultural teams and with an internationally oriented staff.

You will start your study at The Hague University and you will spend two months at the University for Peace in Costa Rica. While being overseas you will be the guest of a Costa Rican family. Your final thesis is required to focus on responsible management. Classes take place at the university campus, where you can meet other students and work in teams. There will be plenty of opportunities to socialise with other (local) students.

Writing your thesis is an individual process, with support of a supervisor, lecturers and fellow students. During this period, you will not have any classroom sessions. In July 2019, you will defend your thesis.

The graduation will take place in August. As fresh MBA graduate you will be the focus of the ceremony.
