Our Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) accredited course gives you real experience of lab-based research. You’ll learn to diagnose diseases and identify their treatments, preparing you for a career in a range of biomedical fields.
Biomedical science is fascinating. It’s all about understanding how the human body works – both when healthy and when diseased. Our course will teach you the techniques and methodologies used to diagnose and monitor diseases, as well as how to identify treatments.
You’ll cover key biological concepts down to DNA level, and study human anatomy and physiology. You’ll explore the way medical genetics has impacted on our lives, and its benefits and risks.
Biomedical science overlaps with other disciplines, so we’ll explore how professionals from different teams work together. We’ll also look at the wider social, economic and ethical implications of biomedical science.
Spending plenty of time in the lab, you’ll develop research, analytical and diagnostic techniques. Through lectures and reading, you’ll originate ideas – then test them in experiments and critically review the results. We’ll introduce you to the statistics and software used in bioscience.
Our facilities include real-time thermal cycling equipment (for amplifying and quantifying DNA segments), DNA sequencers, and a flow cytometer. We’re also the first UK university to have an intelliPATH immunohistochemistry slide-stainer. We work closely with Addenbrooke’s Hospital, so your learning will reflect what’s happening in the world of work.

Svarbu, jog anglų kalbos testo rezultatai universitetą pasiektų iki Liepos 31d.
Anglų kalbos žinias gali patvirtinti vienu iš šių būdų:
Valstybinis anglų kalbos egzaminas išlaikyti 75 % ir daugiau.

When you graduate you’ll be in demand for a wide range of biomedical roles, from forensic investigation and pathology to pharmaceutical manufacturing. You might choose to work for the Medical Research Council. Or you could use the transferable skills you’ve developed in a range of scientific or laboratory-based roles, or in business or further education.
Cambridge has become a world centre for biomedical research and commercial activities. You’ll benefit from our links with world-renowned institutions based in the city such as the Sanger Institute and Wellcome Trust.
Our course is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science. We’ll provide a valuable introduction to the UK’s professional body for biomedical scientists, as well as a chance to link with professionals working in the industry.
Graduation doesn’t need to be the end of your time with us. If you’d like to continue your studies, we offer a wide range of full-time and part-time postgraduate courses, including MSc Biomedical Science and MSc Biotechnology.
