Tourism and Events Management
If you have a global outlook and a passion for working with people, this degree enables you to develop the necessary skills for a successful career in both tourism and events. You will analyse and engage with the industry through a business and management lens, covering topics such as destination planning and event management.
This course recognises the importance of tourism and events to both the economy and wider contribution within society.
There are a number of course highlights, namely the second year overseas field trip which is included as part of your course fees - previous destinations include Cyprus, Spain and Tenerife. There is also a placement in your third year, with Disney and Marriott USA popular amongst students. Final year students will engage with our industry partners working together on a live events case study.
Throughout the course you will be provided with opportunities to attend industry events, guest lectures, and engage with leading organisations to discuss future industry development and employment opportunities.
As the longest established tourism degree in the UK, it has a first-rate reputation with organisations in the industry. Furthermore, Northumbria University is one of only four Institute of Travel and Tourism Centres of Excellence in the UK.

Anglų kalbos vidurkis 8 B2 lygiu arba valstybinis anglų kalbos egzaminas 75% ir daugiau. Atkreipk dėmesį, kad kai kurioms programoms gali reikėti anglų kalbos vidurkio 9 B2 lygiu arba anglų egzamino rezultato 80% ir daugiau.

It opens up a wide range of career choices within the travel and tourism sector, including travel operations, events and hospitality management and marketing. Previous graduates from this course have set up their own successful and award-winning businesses, whilst others go on to work for large organisations such as Virgin Atlantic and Great Rail Journeys.
