Medical Biochemistry
Biochemistry has made major contributions to medicine as the development of new drugs and the treatment of disease have become more systematic and scientific. Our knowledge of the structure and function of DNA, RNA and proteins has led to an understanding of the mechanisms that cause degenerative disease and cancer, and holds out the promise of novel and improved methods of treatment.
This course develops the knowledge and skills necessary for careers in medical research, work in the pharmaceutical industry and other aspects of healthcare. We enjoy strong links with industry and research institutes, including chemical, pharmacological and medical companies.
You’ll start by developing a firm foundation in the molecular and cellular aspects of biology, in addition to the principles of drug action. We then expand these areas of study with an emphasis on disease processes in modules such as Epidemiology and Pharmacology. Finally you’ll investigate advanced topics such as molecular medicine and metabolic disease.

Svarbu, jog anglų kalbos testo rezultatai universitetą pasiektų iki Liepos 31d.
Anglų kalbos žinias gali patvirtinti vienu iš šių būdų:
Anglų kalba B2 lygis + valstybinis anglų kalbos egzaminas išlaikytas 75% ir daugiau.
Kastu anglų kalbos testas (jei turi gerą įvertinimą iš IELTS/TOEFL, tau nereikia laikyti Kastu anglų kalbos testo).

Recent advances in biochemistry have led to a growing demand for graduates with expertise in medical biology and experience in laboratory techniques. Our graduates find employment in a wide variety of careers in the pharmaceutical industry, hospitals and the healthcare sector as well as medical research. You can also go on to study at Master’s or PhD level with a good Honours degree.
