As business increasingly operates in a global environment, managers need to understand the context of working internationally even if they are based in the UK. This course provides knowledge of the key business areas including accounts, people management and operations while studying the specialist area of global business management and cross-cultural studies. You will learn how to appreciate, manage and work in today’s diverse business environment.
We'll provide you with the opportunity to combine contemporary theory with real-world application, learning from leading academics and the cutting-edge expertise of our network of visiting business leaders.
We also introduce you to a range of skills required in business including problem solving, personal organisation, team working, and communication skills. We have developed the course in association with employers and professional bodies, ensuring its relevance for today’s jobs market.
The course offers an optional 48-week placement in Year 3. This salaried position provides the opportunity for further personal development and to see global business management in action, helping you to build on the knowledge and skills developed on the course.
Your employability skills will gain a real boost from the ability to work with our HR professionals to improve your interview technique and experience the latest recruitment tools such as e-portfolios, apps and video CVs.
This degree is part of a 'suite' of courses that allows you, if you choose, to combine business management with a focus on leadership, human resources or operations management.
Graduates from the department have worked for both nationally and internationally recognised organisations on graduate training programmes in a wide variety of roles including business development, marketing, retail and new product design. Companies include Apple, Marks and Spencer, Ted Baker and L’Oreal. Graduates have worked abroad in Cyprus, China and Australia.
