This course offers you a flexible and dynamic approach to a rich and fascinating subject. You'll be taught by enthusiastic staff, all of whom are actively engaged in research within their specialist fields. We are proud of bringing this expertise into our teaching. You'll study core modules in literature and critical theory, and develop your analytical abilities and historical knowledge as well as your interpretative and critical skills.
The University sponsors the annual Huddersfield Literature Festival. This event, which supports and showcases established and emerging writers, is organised by our Creative Writing staff and you are encouraged to participate.

This degree is excellent preparation for any career which requires high levels of communication skills. Many graduates, for example, enter careers in PR, marketing, management and other business-based jobs. Alternatively, you will be well-prepared for further training as a teacher of English, or as an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) or English as a Second Language (ESOL) teacher, providing you with opportunities to travel and work overseas.
